There's not a lot to elaborate, we all seem to have good friends who with time or distance, become less friend(s)/(ly) and start hanging with people you don't like.

Not really, in this case it prolonged the friendship rather than suddenly stop hearing from that person.

I'm about to have to do this very thing to someone. He's always making weird comments on things I post. I think he's on too many pain meds (he's on disability) because half the time they don't even make sense. I tried deleting a few of his comments to see if he'd get the message, but that didn't work.
